Aston Villa were forced into a U-turn over the signing of Kortney Hause after his medical highlighted a foot injury, according to Football Insider.

The reliable site claim the Championship big guns changed the terms of the deal with Wolves from a permanent transfer to a loan amid concerns over a problem that has affected the defender for months.

Football Insider report Hause had been unaware of the seriousness of his foot injury and that is why Villa pulled the plug on a full-time deal after agreeing afee with their Midlands rivals last week.

OPINION

This demonstrates pragmatism and a sensible approach from Villa, who have removed a layer of risk from the transfer by making it a loan with the potential to make it permanent in the summer, rather than a straight-up permanent January deal. The Midlands giants have had their fingers burned badly in the transfer market in recent years, and there is a clear strategy under the current owners of de-risking deals. Hause has the opportunity now to show he can deliver the goods while deal with what appears to be a long-standing foot problem. He could make his debut against Wigan Athletic this weekend as Dean Smith looks to immediately reinforce a defence that has struggled to contain opponents all season. Most of the combinations tried by Smith and his predecessor Steve Bruce have not worked, as the club have struggled without John Terry’s on-pitch organisational skills. Should Hause hit the ground running, then Villa might have pulled off a timely and shrewd deal.
