Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez is currently the club’s first choice, which has left Leo Bonatini out on the sidelines for a while.

It is clear to see that the 24-year-old has fallen out of favour with boss Nuno Espirito Santo in recent times – and based on the latest transfer update, he is going to fall even further out of favour, into exile even.

Telegraph journalist John Percy has revealed via his personal Twitter account that Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham – who is currently ripping it up in the Championship with 16 goals in 22 games – is poised to sign for Wolves next week.

This is the type of news that would leave an unfavoured player like Bonatini to sweat profusely – as it means his first team chances are even more limited to what they already were.

In fact, the Brazilian’s career at Molineux is basically dead and buried after this transfer update, as there is no chance that he is going to get the nod over a striker who is already in double figures this season.

Bonatini no doubt recognises that his time at Wolves is all but over after this, so finding somewhere else to play must be his number one priority.

The 6ft [Transfermarkt] attacker does have the potential to be a great goalscorer – but unfortunately for him, that is not going to happen with Wolves any time soon.

Abraham has the ability to fire Wolves to Premier League safety with his incredible tally, whereas Bonatini would drag them in the opposite direction if he played.

The fans are undoubtedly ecstatic about this update, but what will excite them more is that the club will have another reason to get rid of Bonatini.

Signing Abraham is great news for the club – but for Bonatini, it will spell the end of his career at Wolves.
