West Ham are likely to limit their spending to deals in and around the £10million mark during the January transfer window as Manuel Pellegrini looks to make a handful of signings this month, according to Football.London.

The news outlet claim on their website that the Hammers are not looking for a spending spree after their big outlay in the summer but that the manager is still keen on doing a number of deals to help bolster his side after seeing a number of star men ruled out long-term through injury.

It is stated that loan deals or permanent signings around a £10million fee maximum are likely for the Irons, while there are very few players at the London Stadium likely to leave.

Opinion

West Ham are in a funny situation where they have plenty of talent on their books but not necessarily at their disposal right now. Pellegrini would love to bring in some fresh talent to boost his squad but obviously with the wage bill limited and the summer’s big spending still fresh in the memory, he cannot simply dip his hand into his pocket and splash the cash. If the Irons are to make any meaningful deals, they will have to be done with some savvy spending, or potentially securing cheap temporary deals for players who might not be regulars at their current clubs. It should not hinder their chances of success for the rest of the season too much, but you can be sure the Chilean boss would have liked to have seen more from a number of his big signings from the summer. Still, injuries have plagued east London and it is what it is.
