West Ham could play a blinder by snapping up Celta Vigo midfielder Stanislav Lobotka as he would drastically improve Manuel Pellegrini’s options when it comes to a defensive midfielder.

According to the Daily Mirror’s Live Transfer Blog (Saturday January 26th 18:21) the Hammers are in talks with Celta Vigo over signing Maxi Gomez but could strike a double deal that saw Lobotka arrive at the London Stadium as well.

The newspaper claims that the 24-year-old midfield enforcer has been targeted by a number of clubs including Everton, Wolves, Bournemouth and Leicester but is keen to join the Hammers.

With this in mind and talks on going then Pellegrini’s side could play a blinder by getting Lobotka as part of any deal that would see clinical forward Gomez arrive.

Aside from needing a new forward, the Hammers do need a top-quality midfield enforcer to arrive as aside from Declan Rice, there’s no real standout options for them to play in that position.

Lobotka would therefore be a fantastic signing for them to make as not only is he a top-quality midfield enforcer, he is one that would fit in to the Hammers’ style of play.

The midfielder, who has 14 caps for Slovakia, loves to play short fast passes to set his side on the attack and isn’t afraid to stride forward with the ball due to being a talented dribbler.

Also Lobotka can be a very reliable presence in front of the side’s defence due to the fact he doesn’t needlessly jump into tackles and that is shown by the fact he only picked up one yellow card in his 14 league outings this season.

Therefore given that the 24-year-old wants to move to London and the Hammers in particular, West Ham must sign Lobotka and play a blinder in doing so as they’d be improved upon him arriving.
