West Ham should rescue Wolves midfielder Leander Dendoncker as he is currently being wasted by manager Nuno Santo as he is hardly gifted an opportunity to feature.

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has only shown glimpses of his talent as he only made four appearances across all competitions since joining Wolves in the summer.

In fact Dendoncker has only played 77 minutes of Premier League action and it’s harsh that he hasn’t been given more minutes in order to adjust to England and its style of football.

In fact the 6ft 2in tall midfield enforcer (Source: Transfermarkt) could exit Wolves on loan in January as according to the Telegraph as a loan move for him in the winter window is possible.

While Dendoncker hasn’t excelled at Wolves, it doesn’t mean he couldn’t do a job in the Premier League this season as it’s not like he has been properly tested.

The 23-year-old previously looked the real deal at Anderlecht where he made 171 appearances across all competitions, impressing as both a centre-back and a defensive midfield.

Given that Manuel Pellegrini lacks top-quality depth in both those positions, especially when it comes to a defensive midfielder aside from Declan Rice there’s not many he could consider calling upon, Dendoncker would get playing time at the London Stadium.

The experienced manager has also been able to get the best out of certain Hammers and Wolves may risk loaning him to a league rival in order to benefit in the long run.

Especially as he is just being wasted sitting on the sidelines as it stands.

It’s also worth noting that the Hammers were constantly linked to Dendoncker in the summer with someone at the club clearly rating him and were even thought to be in pole position to sign him in June according to RMC Sport.

Therefore the Hammers must take the chance on Dendoncker to bolster their defensive strength of their midfield by swooping for him in January.
