West Ham won’t make signing a forward a priority in January but they should pounce on Brentford attacker Neal Maupay if his reported price tag is anywhere near being correct.

Manuel Pellegrini has several forwards to call upon but it’s clear that a few of them aren’t exactly delivering the goods this season and he could benefit from a clinical attacker rocking up at the London Stadium in the current window.

The ideal player could be Maupay due to his red-hot form this season and because of the fact he is only 22-years-old so will no doubt be a signing who will get better and can be made with the future in mind.

The 22-year-old has been lethal in front of goal this season for Brentford as he has scored a very impressive 15 goals in 26 outings this season.

Aside from just being a clinical finisher, Maupay is a slick passer of the ball and easy to see him fitting seamlessly into Pellegrini’s attacking style of football for that reason.

According to The Sun Aston Villa are lining up a swoop for him due to potentially losing the services of attacker  Tammy Abraham but the Hammers would surely be a more tempting prospect to him.

The newspaper state that Maupay could cost in the region of £6million as that is how much the Villans should be expected to pay, and given that price being mooted it makes the player sounds like an absolute steal when you take his potential and form into consideration.

Normally a player who is in as good form as the current Bees forward is in front of goal would have a higher price tag especially one that is under the age of 25-years-old.

Therefore with all that considered, the Hammers must pounce on Maupay in a bid to try and sign him as his potential price tag is too good to ignore when you consider he could boost the club’s firepower for many seasons to come.
