Tottenham defender Kieran Trippier experienced a horror show in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Sunday and Mauricio Pochettino must ruthlessly axe him as a result.

The 28-year-old right-back, who earns £40,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac), caused himself constant problems against Man United as he just kept being so unaware of the damage around him and putting himself in terrible positions.

Trippier allowed Anthony Martial to constantly get the better of him without the Man United player having to get out of second gear and even gifted Paul Pogba the ball during the game, which in turn led to Marcus Rashford scoring.

Aside from the countless blunders that he kept racking up as the game wore on, the flyer wasn’t able to be a threat going forward either and that’s usually his strength.

Trippier has been woeful this season across the majority of his 22 outings when it comes to his defensive reliability, but often redeems himself by putting in killer crosses for his teammates to convert.

Yet it was a new low in his form for this campaign when faced Man United as aside from one cross, which didn’t matter as the offside flag went up, he didn’t seem to be able to create anything and was rather wasteful.

Last season Pochettino regularly relied on the defender, he featured 35 times, and he has kept the faith with him this season but now it’s time for the manager to be ruthless and drop Trippier from his team.

The right-back is showing no signs that his form is about get back to his best and with it being vital that Spurs don’t drop points in the league due to how tough the competition is for the top four, the Spurs boss can’t afford to play favourites and keep blindly starting the right-back.
