Everton have struck gold with several of their summer signings, with players like Richarlison, Andre Gomes and Lucas Digne proving shrewd acquisitions by manager Marco Silva.

While Digne and Richarlison joined the Toffees on permanent deals, the club still have some work to do regarding Portugal international Gomes, who is on loan from Barcelona.

Gomes has been mightily impressive in midfield for Everton, with the 25-year-old settling quickly into life in the Premier League after recovering from an existing injury which kept him out of the early season.

His performances have attracted plaudits from all angles, and unluckily for Everton, have also attracted the attention of several other clubs who will no doubt target a permanent deal for Gomes in the summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona now intend to sell Gomes on to the highest bidder in the summer, with the La Liga club hoping for at least £22.3million for the midfielder.

In truth, Gomes is worth far more than that in today’s market, and with several clubs linked, will likely fetch a higher amount when the summer comes round.

One of those clubs linked with the Portuguese pass master is Tottenham Hotspur, who are in desperate need of midfielder reinforcements.

Spurs have a long-standing interest in Gomes but decided against bringing him to the Premier League for whatever reason in the summer, with Everton beating them to it.

Mauricio Pochettino will however have seen how well Gomes has acclimatised in England, and any doubts that he had about the player will surely now have dissipated.

Even if the club end up paying £30million+ for Gomes, that represents a really good deal for Spurs, who need a new face in midfield with Mousa Dembele set to leave.

Blowing their rivals away in this imminent bidding war for Gomes is a no-brainer for the club, who will be getting a brilliant player with a year of Premier League experience under his belt at a low price.
