If Tottenham are serious about becoming title contenders, they need to start signing the sort of players that can elevate them to that next level, and Yannick Carrasco is one of them.
The Belgian winger made the unexpected decision to move to Dalian Yifang in China from Atletico Madrid last winter, and would surely be keen on a move back to Europe following his lucrative payday.
The Belgian is a world class talent and is wasted in the Chinese league. At 25, he is in his prime, would comfortably slot into most starting 11s in Europe, Spurs’ included.
Because he is not part of the Eurocentric footballing circus that commands so much attention from the rumour mills, Carrasco has slipped under the radar a little since his move to the Far East, but shouldn’t be forgotten for the talent that he is.
Capable of playing on either wing, or at wing-back, he would offer a creative spark that could be the key to turning Tottenham into the most irresistible attacking side in England.
They are not far off at the moment, and presumably Carrasco would not cost the earth.
It’s only a matter of time before other European giants begin to circle, and if Spurs can beat them to the punch it would be a huge coup.
