Tottenham are in the hunt to sign Club Brugge winger Arnaut Danjuma Groeneveld, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper’s live transfer blog (Monday, 3.05pm) claims that Spurs have joined Liverpool and Everton in closely tracking the Holland international.

The Mail report AC Milan have had a £9million bid rejected for Groeneveld, who is recovering from injury after scoring five goals in his last 11 matches.

Good move for Tottenham?

Groeneveld is a real talent and could be just the type of player who could thrive at Spurs in the medium term. Aged 21, he is bursting with potential and his ability to play anywhere across the front line is attractive to suitors. The former PSV Eindhoven and NEC Nijmegen ace has scored in the Champions League and at international level, and the calibre of the clubs interested give a clear hint as to his potential. That is all well and good, but Groeneveld would require plenty of nurturing on the training ground and is far from the finished product.

Likely to happen?

It appears relatively early days in Spurs’ pursuit of Groeneveld, although he fits the profile of the type of player they might sign, given their financial restrictions. Given the widespread interest in the Belgium-based attacker, it is difficult to see Brugge hanging on to him if he hits the ground running when recovered from injury.
