Tottenham fans would be utterly stunned if the club stole Simon Jordan’s idea to deal with the injury blow to Harry Kane as he suggested the club hijack Chelsea’s move for Gonzalo Higuain.

The former Premier League chairman shared his thoughts while on Jim White’s talkSPORT show on what he would do if he was in Spurs shoes after they confirmed via their official Twitter account that Kane was likely stuck on the sidelines until March.

“They need a striker,” Jordan stated as transcribed by talkSPORT’s website.

“If I was in their shoes I’d be looking at Higuain or someone of that nature – try to hijack that deal.

“I would take him on loan rather than go knee-jerk ‘we need to jump into the market now and buy a player’.”

While Spurs are unlikely to spoil Chelsea’s plans, as according to Sky Sports the Blues are growing in confidence over signing Higuain, their fans based would be left speechless if they went down that route.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side have steered away from spending big in recent times especially compared to other Premier League sides, they signed no one in the summer, and it would take a pretty penny to get Higuain.

While Jordan suggested a loan deal considering that the 31-year-old forward is probably on big money considering his quality and experience, it would be very out character for the Spurs to invest in getting him.

This is especially when you think that Spurs tend to avoid investing in players the wrong side of 30 where possible and normally go after younger players.

However Higuain would be a fantastic signing to cover the loss of Kane as the forward has built a stellar reputation for scoring goals over the years.

The 31-year-old has scored an impressive 117 goals in 192 appearances while playing in Serie A and racked up a staggering 122 goals in the 264 appearances during his time with Real Madrid.

Higuain would no doubt be a clinical finisher in the Premier League if given the opportunity but it does seems likely that chance will come at Chelsea for him.

Yet weirder things have happened in football and if Spurs took notice of Jordan’s idea and acted on it, fans of the club would be stunned in a very good way as a result.
