OPINION
Tottenham have been reportedly installed as favourites to sign Adrien Rabiot, ahead of Barcelona, according to Spanish newspaper Sport, but there’s been a distinctly mixed reaction from Spurs fans.
There’s no doubting Rabiot’s qualities. The 23-year-old midfielder is a full French international and would be an absolutely perfect replacement for Mousa Dembele, who has jetted off to finish his career in China.
And there are many fans who are delighted at the latest news and thrilled that he might be coming to north London after Mauricio Pochettino reportedly told him he would be a key Tottenham player.
However, there are just as many fans who have heard these sorts of reports before and are expecting it to lead to disappointment again.
Do we think there’s a chance of Rabiot signing for Tottenham? There’s always a chance but there’s been nothing from either Mauricio Pochettino or Daniel Levy that they’re preparing a marquee signing in January.
Rabiot might be available for a cut-price fee with his contract expiring in the summer but his wages wouldn’t be cheap.
We’ll remain cautiously optimistic. We would love to see Rabiot in the Premier League and he seems like the perfect Poch player.
Here are the best reactions from Tottenham fans:
He will not join us , already said that we are "below "his level

I feel like something has happened here, it’s rare that a player is close to joining Barca and another story builds momentum. Spurs must have an interest there and he would be a fantastic signing. Rabiot & Winks together would be brilliant. #THFC #COYS Malcom on loan too please!

Sorry but I really doubt this story!!! For a start Levy would have to spend money and Rabiot has a choice of world class teams wanting him so sadly he wont pick spurs.

Hopefully with the only real team allegedly competing with us to sign him (Barcelona) picking up De Jong this week, this story has some legs and we can get it done.
