Tottenham are ready to reignite their hunt from 2016 for Antonio Sanabria as they seek a new striker to fill the void left by Harry Kane’s injury, according to the Independent.
The newspaper claim on their website that the Lilywhites are seeking out a new forward after the English hitman was ruled out until March by the club and having chased the 22-year-old while at Roma two and a half years ago, only to see him move to Real Betis, are ready to resurrect their interest for the 11-cap Paraguay international.
Sanabria has scored five goals across all competitions this season and is said to have a release clause of £26million in his contract at the Spanish side.
Good move for Tottenham?
His goal scoring record is nothing special at Real Betis and so even for a fee of less than £30million he seems a little expensive.
Eight goals in 17 appearances last season is a little better but his long term knee injury will no doubt be a worry for Spurs, who have only been put into this situation of finding a new striker with a setback of their own.
He might be more willing to sit as backup for Kane when the English striker returns, which is important to Spurs in their hunt for a replacement but a lack of versatility in the attack means he might find himself on the bench more often than not.

Likely to happen?
It is by no means a guarantee that Spurs will even sanction a new striker signing even with Kane’s absence and so Sanabria just does not fit the bill.
He is not versatile in playing in different positions, he has a costly release clause and is simply not prolific enough up top.
There will definitely be other options higher on Tottenham’s shortlist and he is likely just a backup of a backup option.
