Tottenham have made an approach to sign AS Roma striker Patrik Schick, according to Sport Media Set.

The Italian outlet report that Spurs registered their interest in the Czech forward – who has scored four goals in all competitions this season – but the Serie A club have batted them away by expressing the fact that the international who has ten caps is unavailable.

The 22-year-old only arrived at Roma in the summer from fellow Serie A side Sampdoria, and has four years remaining on his contract in Italy.

Good move for Tottenham?

No, this would not have been a good move for Tottenham. Having only scored four goals this year, it remains to be seen why they would they would swoop for a striker who is not prolific in the slightest. Yes, Harry Kane may be out until around about March with an ankle injury, but signing a forward like Schick definitely is not the answer at the moment. They would then be lumbered with his wages when Kane does return, and who knows if he would make a difference?

Likely to happen?

No, this is a move that is definitely not going to happen. The report states that Roma have made it clear that Schick is unavailable, so the likelihood of a deal taking place is virtually zero. Having only signed for Roma in the summer, the Italian club were highly unlikely to let him go so soon after him joining. That would not make sense in the slightest – and Spurs fans will no doubt be relieved that their club would not be wasting money on such a player.
