Tottenham winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou will undergo a medical at Ligue 1 strugglers AS Monaco on Thursday (31 January) morning after terms were agreed over his temporary move to the south coast of France, according to BBC journalist David Ornstein.

The reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that the 23-year-old is on the brink of leaving north London on loan and that he will undertake the final stages of his loan move away on deadline day.

It is stated that Monaco do not have any purchase clause included in the wide man’s loan deal, having struggled to pick up much game time at Spurs this season with just three outings across all competitions.

Opinion

N’Koudou has never looked like hitting the expected heights with Tottenham and so it may be a surprise that he is only leaving on loan than permanently this month. There is little doubting that although Spurs might not have agreed to a purchase clause this is an opportunity for the winger to put himself in the shop window and earn a move elsewhere in the summer – be that at Monaco or another club keeping tabs on his performances. His loss will not bring any sort of tears at the Lilywhites although there might be a little sense of disappointment he has not lived up to expectations. Exits are not what the supporters are looking for in the final 24 hours of the transfer window and there will be a small semblance of hope that his exit, albeit temporarily, might clear up space both in the squad physically and in terms of wages for at least one new arrival to help bolster the options available to Mauricio Pochettino.
