Tottenham have accepted a £9million offer from Chinese club Beijing Sinobo Guoan for Mousa Dembele, according to Jim White.

The Sky Sports transfer supremo made the claim on his personal twitter account on Tuesday lunchtime.

This comes after reports linking the midfielder very heavily to a lucrative move overseas.

Dembele is currently under contract at Tottenham until the summer, when he could leave for free.

OPINION

Seeing as Dembele could leave in the summer for free, this has to go down as a good bit of business for both club and player. It was becoming clear that Dembele was struggling in the Premier League and he’ll now get a lucrative contract to see out his career somewhere where the pace of football is a bit more gentle. Dembele has been a brilliant servant to the club and he’ll be a big loss, but it’s the right move. Some fans were questioning his sale and saying that even if he couldn’t play all the games, that Spurs should hold onto him as a squad player. That’s missing the point though. Dembele can sign a pre-contract agreement this January and leave for free in a few months. This way, Tottenham get some money – and that’s in short supply in north London at the moment – and Dembele gets to leave with the blessing of the club. It’s a win-win. Now, Tottenham fans will be hoping the money is re-invested in January.
