Highly rated Tottenham youngster Kazaiah Sterling has been shipped out by the club on loan to north east club Sunderland for the rest of the season.

The Lilywhites confirmed via their official Twitter account on Thursday that the 20-year-old, who is deemed one of the most exciting talents in north London, will be heading to the League One side until the end of the current campaign, with the Black Cats having lost Josh Maja to Bordeaux earlier in the window.

Sterling has made just one senior appearance this season, coming in the FA Cup, while he has a further unused substitute outing under his belt in the Premier League.

Opinion

Sterling is hitting the next stage of his career and so a move to play at a League One side chasing promotion and with a need for a new striker makes perfect sense. If he is good enough he should find game time easy to come by at the Stadium of Light and he could become a real favourite of the Black Cats if he fires them back into the Championship. As for Spurs they know what he could use more game time to help further his development this season and so shipping him out to the north east helps his growth as he looks to forge a future in north London. Sterling is without a doubt one of the most exciting youngsters who have come through the ranks of late, joining the likes of Oliver Skipp in the first team, but rather than wait around for his chance he seems to be willing to leave in order to further himself. The fans will be keeping a very close eye on how things develop in Sunderland from now until the end of the season after he sealed his move up to the north.
