Tottenham Hotspur have not had the greatest success with loaning out their young talent in recent seasons, and Cameron Carter-Vickers’ spell at Swansea this season has been illustrative of that.

The USA international joined the Swans on a season-long deal in the summer but has played just 11 games for the Championship club so far this season.

His loan spell in south Wales has gone so poorly that Spurs are now considering ripping up his deal and sanctioning another loan spell elsewhere for the 21-year-old, as reported by Sun journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter on Sunday.

It is said that Championship rivals Ipswich, among others, are keen on Carter-Vickers, and that would be a far better move for all involved with the centre-back enjoying a successful spell with the Tractor Boys last term.

Leaving Carter-Vickers at the Liberty Stadium for the rest of the season would be a pointless exercise for Spurs, who would be wasting valuable time in his development.

The 21-year-old has been earmarked as a potential first-teamer in the future at Tottenham, but that will not happen if loan spells continue to fall flat for the defensive powerhouse.

A return to Ipswich, who are bottom of the Championship, would be far better for Spurs and Carter-Vickers, who would surely be handed much more game time at Portman Road.

They must now go through with ripping up his current deal at Swansea before negotiating a second exit of the season for the 21-year-old, who is losing ground in his quest for Premier League football.
