Real Madrid are expected to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham at the end of the season, according to the Independent.

The news site claim the Spanish giants are likely to make the sensational double capture of Eriksen and Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard in the summer transfer window.

The Independent report Real want playmaker James Rodriguez to join Tottenham rather than bitter rivals Arsenal to smooth the way for them to land Eriksen.

OPINION

Rodriguez is a hugely talented player who has a track record for club and country that demands respect. He has won the Golden Boot at a World Cup and scored and created goals consistently in three elite leagues – Bundesliga, La Liga and Ligue 1. However, he is not the answer should the doomsday scenario happen and Spurs lose their great Dane at the end of the campaign. Mauricio Pochettino makes no attempt to hide his admiration of the brilliant playmaker, who has barely missed a game during the Argentine’s five-year reign. As far as Spurs are concerned, Eriksen’s combination of invention and work ethic make him irreplaceable. Rodriguez is a player capable of great moments, and he his technical ability is jawdropping, but he also goes missing too often and it is telling that he has lost his regular starting place at loan club Bayern Munich. If the 27-year-old was so great, Real and Bayern wouldn’t be letting him go.
