Image for Morgan slams Pochettino: ‘Overrated’

Piers Morgan has branded Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino overrated after Tottenham Hotspur crashed out of the FA Cup on Sunday.

The outspoken broadcast personality – and well-known Arsenal fan – took aim at Pochettino following Spurs’ dismal 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Morgan clearly was not impressed with Tottenham’s efforts after the Lilywhites suffered their second cup defeat in a matter of days, having been beaten in the League Cup by Chelsea in midweek.

“Pochettino is the most overrated ‘Special One’ in world football history,” he said on his personal Twitter account.

OPINION

This is classic Morgan. He couldn’t resist a dig at Tottenham after their FA Cup exit, perhaps forgetting that his beloved Arsenal also crashed out of the competition this week. As for his claim that Pochettino is overrated, he couldn’t be further from the truth. Plus, he probably doesn’t even believe it. Would he really not trade what Pochettino has done at Spurs for the regression Arsenal have experienced while the Argentine’s been at their rivals? Of course he would. What Pochettino has achieved, with far less spending than their immediate Premier League rivals, is nothing short of remarkable. He has revolutionised Tottenham as a club and has helped them shatter the glass ceiling that was the old ‘big four’. He deserves credit for what he has achieved, not Morgan’s stale derision. Luckily for Pochettino, he, like all right-minded people, likely pays little attention to Morgan’s inane and irritating ramblings.
