Tottenham are in “advanced talks” with Monaco over a loan exit for winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou, according to Sky Sports.

Their live transfer blog (16.29) claims that St Etienne were also interested after Besiktas were thwarted in their attempts to sign the 23-year-old.

N’Koudou had a chance to make an impact in the first-team recently, with a spate of injuries decimating Mauricio Pochettino’s squad, starting in the FA Cup tie against Crystal Palace, but he has been deemed surplus to requirements.

He is reportedly on £35k-a-week at Tottenham.

OPINION

Many fans were calling for N’Koudou to get a chance at Tottenham, seemingly baffled as to why he was constantly sidelined. However, despite setting up a dramatic last-second winner for Harry Winks in the game against Fulham, he never looked good enough for this Tottenham side. It didn’t work out for him in a half-season loan at Burnley either, which was probably all the proof that Pochettino needed. The 23-year-old, who signed from Marseilles for £10million in 2016, hasn’t worked out and has probably played his last game for Tottenham. His current contract runs until 2021 but we can see this loan deal turning into a permanent one if he can find his feet back in Ligue 1. It’s a shame. The former France Under-21 promised a lot when he arrived but has never delivered and Tottenham will be happy to get anywhere near the money the spent on him in the future.
