Tottenham are on course to receive a major boost with the surprise early return of Harry Kane from his injury layoff with manager Mauricio Pochettino set for a big dilemma over when to bring the England hitman back, according to reliable journalist Alasdair Gold.

The Football.London reporter, who is one of the most reputable writers covering goings on in north London, claimed in a live question and answer on the website (28/01, 14:44) that the striker is progressing better than expected from his ankle setback, which had Spurs originally pencilling in a March return to training.

Instead it is stated that Kane will be looking to return to first team action by late February or early March, but that Pochettino is set to face a headache over whether to play him in the north London derby on March 2nd.

Opinion

What a great bit of news this would be for the Lilywhite faithful. Kane has this record of coming back from injury sooner than expected but his blow against Manchester United looked a nasty one and it would be a huge surprise if he was back playing by March. The north London outfit miss him dearly and you only have to guess that Spurs might well be in a League Cup final and FA Cup fifth round had he been fit and firing. The lack of quality striker is hurting Spurs immeasurably right now and the sooner Kane returns the better. If that is in a month’s time then the Tottenham supporters will be left feeling a little bit more confident about their season after a disastrous couple of days in terms of their hopes of silverware. Still, Tottenham are not a one man team and everyone has to be on top form to hit the heights expected of them.
