Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele has flown out of the country to complete a move to Chinese Super League, according to Football.London.

The Belgian international has been linked with a move to the Far East for while, and it is now understood that he has left London to put the finishing touches on a move to Beijing Guoan.

It is thought that the deal will be worth around £11million, and prevents the 31-year-old leaving Spurs on a free in the summer, with just six months left on his contract at the club.

Dembele has missed much of this season with an ankle injury, but did return to training a fortnight ago.

OPINION

It’s a shame that things had to end like this for Moussa Dembele. The midfielder is almost universally considered to be one of the finest players in the Spurs squad by supporters and teammates alike, but injuries have been cruel and he not looked himself in recent times. The rigours of the Premier League appear to have caught up with him at long last, and a move to China will not only benefit him financially, but from a footballing perspective as well. The slower pace will allow him to shine, and he will get one last lucrative pay day before he has to hang up his boots. No Tottenham fan will begrudge him that after the work he has done for the club, and at 31, when he should be looking ahead at another three or four years at the top, it is the least he deserves after a terrible run of luck that has stopped him from dominating games like he once did.
