One of the names most-heavily linked to Tottenham Hotspur this month has been that of Hull City star Jarrod Bowen.

The 22-year-old winger has been a revelation for the Tigers over the past two seasons, with Bowen having scored 11 goals in the Championship already this time round.

That form has reportedly attracted the attention of several Premier League sides, with Spurs seemingly the club taking the biggest interest in the speed machine over the past few weeks.

Football.london previously reported that the club were expected to formalise their interest with a January bid, although the sales of Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou would likely have to come first.

Subsequent reports suggested that Spurs may have to table an offer exceeding £20million for Bowen [Sky Sports], but the latest development means that any bid is likely to fail in a blow for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

As quoted by Sky Sports, Hull vice-chairman Ehab Allam said: “To build on this positive momentum on the pitch we have no intention of selling key players.”

Getting deals done in January is far tougher than in the summer, that is a well-known fact, and it looks to be the exact same case for Spurs in their hunt for Bowen.

There is no doubt that the young Englishman would flourish in north London under the watchful eye of Pochettino, but a bid and a subsequent move may have to wait until summer if it is to happen at all.

This is undoubtedly a blow for Spurs in their hunt for January reinforcements, and Pochettino’s seeming resignation to not signing anyone this month is probably telling.

Fans should therefore not get their hopes up too high over an arrival or two in the coming weeks, with it being more than likely that Spurs will again not make any signings this window.
