Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has been tight-lipped on any potential incomings this month, but there is definitely a need for reinforcements if the club are to maintain their challenge across multiple fronts this season.

The confirmed departure of Mousa Dembele to the Chinese Super League has left them short in midfield, while an injury to Harry Kane also means there is a hole up front for Spurs.

At the moment it is looking more likely that Spurs will strengthen with an attacker if they are to bring in anyone this month, but an opportunity has now arisen in midfield which they simply cannot pass up.

As reported by Le Parisien, Borussia Dortmund are willing to sell Germany international Julian Weigl to PSG this month for a fee of just £22million.

It is said that Weigl is pushing for a move to the Champions League giants, but a previous report from Bild suggests that Tottenham have also been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.

Spurs must now step up their pursuit of the young midfielder, who would be the perfect addition this month as they look to strengthen their squad.

Weigl may have fallen out of favour at Dortmund but he is still viewed as one of the most-talented young midfielders in Germany, and merely needs a fresh start to get his career going again.

Considering the premium which most clubs have to pay in the January window, securing such a player for a fee of just £22million would be an absolute bargain for Spurs.

Even if they ended up paying £30million it would be a brilliant deal for the club, with Weigl a young player with a big future who would be ready to play immediately.
