Alan Shearer cheekily pointed out that Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark was probably getting ready to face Blackburn after he was asked why he wasn’t in his Premier League Team of the Week.

The Magpies legend shared his Team of the Week via his official Twitter account before also posting it on his verified Instagram account for everyone to see.

Upon posting it on his Instagram account, Shearer was asked by his son why he opted to snub the Magpies’ Clark from his line-up which promoted his father to make an equally cheeky remark.

“Probably getting ready for the match against Blackburn!!” stated Shearer.

OPINION

Both Shearers appear to be having a little bit of fun regarding the legend’s latest Team of the Week as it’s no real surprise Clark didn’t make the cut. The 29-year-old was at fault for Chelsea scoring their opener in the 2-1 victory over the Magpies but then impressively went up the other end and scored for his side. However given the fact there were a few under-performers for Rafa Benitez’s side to say the least against the Blues, Clark not among them, perhaps the defender should get some credit. While the centre-back wasn’t spectacular to say the least he has excelled at certain points this season. Clark has had some memorable outings in his 12 appearances so far and he shouldn’t be undervalued. The Magpies may have a lot of talented centre-backs to call upon, Clark has proven to be a decent squad member over the years as he was always determined to get stuck in regardless on the scenario.
