Andrew Robertson is with the Liverpool squad and set to play in tonight’s (Thursday) Premier League showdown against Manchester City, according to James Pearce.

The Echo correspondent took to Twitter to address intense speculation earlier in the afternoon that the left-back had not travelled with the team for top-of-the-table clash at Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool fans on social media had gone into meltdown at rumours that Robertson was set to miss the match as his wife had gone into labour.

OPINION

The sigh of collective relief on Liverpool Twitter was audible in the computer-sphere as Pearce delivered the update every supporter was waiting for. Robertson’s significance to the table-toppers is indisputable following his outstanding form of the last year, which has made his £8million capture from Hull City in the summer of 2017 one of the many stunningly successful signings made by the club over the last few seasons. Robertson has made himself untouchable at left-back, to the point where he is one of the first names on the teamsheet. Given that the alternative is the error-prone Alberto Moreno, or maybe more likely the super-solid citizen that is James Milner, it is understandable why so many Liverpool supporters had been sweating buckets before the reliable Pearce delivered a dose of social media melling salts.
