Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has said that they will wait until the summer to sign striker Raul Jimenez on a permanent basis.

The 27-year-old is currently on loan at the Midlands based outfit from Portuguese side Benfica, but the manager wants to wait until the next transfer window to sign him for what the Daily Mirror claim will be a fee of £30 million.

The forward has netted seven goals in 23 appearances for Wolves this season, and the club are willing to meet the price tag that has been slapped on the 6ft 2in [Transfermarkt] ace’s head.

“This is a normal course of things, we have to make the decision at the end of the season. When that moment comes we’ll be here to decide,” he said, as quoted by the Mirror live blog [18/1, 11.19pm].

“For now Raul is doing very well and he must maintain these levels of intensity and the high standards he puts in every game and training session for him to have good performances on match days.”

OPINION

There were some question marks raised about the Wolves striker towards the beginning of the season, but he has now redeemed himself in the eyes of the fans recently. He has been progressing a lot lately, so it is no surprise that the club will be keen to meet the £30 million price tag that has been slapped on his head. There is no doubting the fact that he will maintain his impressive form the remainder of the season, as he is looking like he is a player who is going to establish himself as a favourite with the supporters. Some may think that £30 million is a bit steep for a striker who has not scored that many goals this season – arguably it is a bit high – but that is the figure you have to pay to get a decent striker on the books permanently. Hopefully he can justify his price tag next term by unleashing the talent that we are already starting to see glimpses of.
