COMMENTARY
Newcastle United are in pursuit of Akhmat Grozny left-back Milad Mohammadi according to Football Insider and this has some fans keen on the player potentially arriving at St James Park. The reliable football website claimed that the Magpies were plotting a move which would blow Celtic and Rangers out of the race for him as Rafa Benitez had made getting a new left-back one of the club’s top priorities. However while some may have been sceptical about the Magpies signing anyone as optimism about transfer dealings under Mike Ashley is still at an all-time low, others tweeted that they’d be happy if Mohammadi arrived. Several highlighted the fact his name would make a good chant while another pointed out that the flyer was a good solid option and likely worth every penny. Mohammadi, who has 25 caps for Iran, did feature at the last World Cup for his nation and did stand out for unique throw-ins style, but it’s unclear how he’d cope with the demands of the Premier League if recruited.
