Young Newcastle United midfielder Mo Sangare has been training with the first team at times as he looks to make his mark on Tyneside, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim on their website that the 20-year-old 6’3″ colossus (source: The Sun), who has never been a part of the Magpies’ senior match day squad, has been playing alongside the experienced members of Rafael Benitez’s side behind-the-scenes at times.

He has been a regular for the under-23 side this season, with a mix of starts and substitute outings, and has been compared to senior counterpart Mo Diame.

Opinion

With the amount of injuries and absences that Benitez has had to contend with when it comes to his midfield this season, it should come as no surprise that the young giant has been given his chance to shine out on the training pitch. If nothing else his physicality is something that all but Diame lack in the centre of the field and getting him acclimatised with the level he has to be to get a first team shot is absolutely key to his development. He is obviously rated highly by the Magpies, playing on a regular basis for their under-23 side but whether he has what it takes to hit the next level remains to be seen. It is more necessity than choice that he is playing with the first team in training but it could well be the lucky break he needs to get a chance at turning out at St James’ Park any time soon.
