Newcastle must bring Carroll home

Newcastle United must find a regular source of goals if they are to stay in the Premier League this season, and former frontman Andy Carroll would be the ideal cheap solution.

The Chronicle reports that the big Geordie would be available for around £2 million this month from current club West Ham, and for that price, the Magpies would be mad to not bring him back to Tyneside.

Carroll has had more than his fair share of injury problems, but when he is fit and firing he presents a nuisance that few other players in the league do, and he is a handful for even the best of centre-backs.

Salomon Rondon has done brilliantly since joining from West Brom on loan over the summer, but if the Magpies are to stay afloat, he will need help, and the England international would be a fantastic acquisition.

Since leaving St. James’ Park, Carroll has struggled to find the same kind of affection anywhere else, but bringing the local lad home to spearhead a fight for survival would make a lot of sense, both on the field and off it.

Signing the 6’3″ 30-year-old [Transfermarkt] could prove to be a masterstroke for the Toon Army.
