Newcastle United have had a loan bid for Paris Saint-Germain defender Stanley N’Soki rejected by the French champions, according to RMC Sport.

The French outlet claims that the 19-year-old, who sits on the fringes of the French giants, is a primary transfer target for Magpies boss Rafael Benitez, but that the Spaniard failed in a January bid for the left back.

Newcastle were said to be in for N’Soki in the summer but could not agree a deal then. It appears that it will be difficult for the club to improve on that record this month.

Good move for Newcastle?

This is a blow for Newcastle. N’Soki has long been a transfer target for the Magpies but it appears that it will be difficult for Benitez to bring him in now.

Left back is a position of need for the team, however, especially after The Chronicle reported on Friday that the club’s move for Lazio full back Jordan Lukaku has fallen through. Now, more than ever, the team need to bring N’Soki in.

They really have no genuine cover for regular left back Paul Dummett. Matt Ritchie has been doing well as an auxiliary wing back of late, but that’s not something that can continue indefinitely. N’Soki is someone the club desperately need to bring in, and so he’d be a terrific signing if it happens.

Likely to happen?

Well obviously Newcastle’s loan bid was rejected, making it seem unlikely that this one will go through.

If PSG don’t want to loan the youngster then it’s unlikely that they’d be open to letting him leave permanently, putting this deal in serious doubt.
