COMMENTARY
What a disastrous start it was for Newcastle against Manchester City, with Rafael Benitez’s men allowing the visitors to St James’ Park to score in the first 40 seconds of the clash. However, despite the troubles at the back it was actually one of the forwards who got it in the neck from the Toon Army on Twitter for his first half display, Christian Atsu torn to shreds after struggling against the reigning Premier league champions. With the likes of Kenedy and Jacob Murphy watching on from the bench the Ghanaian did nothing to suggest he was worthy of keeping his place in the side and it is quite clear that the fans on Tyneside would like to see the axe drop on his head. Newcastle were never going to create many chances against City and need to take what opportunities do come their way against big sides. Atsu does not offer that option in the slightest and he will not be playing much more if this is what Benitez can expect from his wide man.
