OPINION
What has happened to Kenedy this season? It’s a genuine question that must have Newcastle United fans scratching their heads in disbelief as much as confusion. The Brazilian was inspired last campaign as he played a major part in ensuring that the Magpies stayed in the Premier League, and the announcement that they had managed to turn his services on another loan spell from Chelsea was met with widespread jubilation from Toon fans. since his return, however, he has been dreadful, and that poor form continued against Watford on Saturday. To an extent, it’s probably a case of the player lacking in confidence more than quality, but whatever is at the root of Kennedy’s issues, he looks like a pale imitation of the mercurial wizard he was last year. At this rate, with the Brazilian taking up a valuable domestic loan space, Newcastle fans must be wondering if they wouldn’t be better off ditching the 22-year-old and bringing in a another player on a temporary deal. It’s difficult to see how Kennedy’s form will recover, especially with Newcastle facing a high pressure, backs to the wall second half of the season, and at a time when they need battlers and calm heads, they can barley afford any flashy passengers.

Kenedy's working hard but he's infuriating on the ball.
I've never seen a player constantly try the spectacular when they're regularly failing to do the simple things right
He'll try a rabona or 40 yard shot but fail to get his head up & play a simple pass@NUFC360 #nufc #cfc

Thankfully Kenedy is now outside the first team picture. Atsu might be dreadful but Kenedy takes it to another level…

Thank God Mike Ashley only signs loan players. Imagine if we paid actual money for Kenedy #NUFC

What has happened to Kenedy! Looks like a guy who can’t wait until loan over so he can go back to Chelsea. Hayden been such a disappointment for years now. Joselu .. enough said. Murphy been lone bright spot as far as attacking threat. #NUFC #FACup

Not terminating Kenedy's loan spell and sending him packing back to Chelsea's reserves could be one of the biggest mistakes we make this season! #nufc
