Newcastle United are considering making a loan move for Everton winger Yannick Bolasie, according to TEAMtalk.

The 35-cap Congolese international returned to Goodison Park from a loan spell at Aston Villa after exercising the option to cut his spell in the Midlands short.

It is understood that he will be allowed to leave the Toffees again this month, but favours a move to Premier League side, with Newcastle named as a potential destination, alongside Burnley, Cardiff City, and former club Crytal Palace.

Good move for Newcastle?

Bolasie was such a lethal prospect when he was at Selhurst Park a couple of seasons ago, but injuries have taken their toll and he looks as if he might just have lost half a yard of pace. That being said, he is still a real and direct threat out wide, and possesses a natural skill that makes him a handful for most full-backs. The Magpies need another option out wide, with Kenedy, Jacob Murphy, and Christian Atsu all disappointing, and Rafa Benitez could do a whole lot worse than the Everton man. Given time and a bit of trust, he could be a massive coup.

Likely to happen?

This would have to be a permanent move because Newcastle already have two domestic loan players in their squad, and that could complicate things. Everton paid around £26 million for Bolasie, and despite his dip in form, the Toffees could still look to recoup a large portion of that fee. Whether Newcastle have the means or the desire to pay that amount in January, if at all, remains to be seen, but the chances are low.
