COMMENTARY
Many Newcastle United fans on social media shared how fed up they were with attacker Ayoze Perez as they went on to tear him to shreds after witnessing his display against Chelsea. One claimed they’d rather a chair played instead of the Spaniard if he was going to be deployed as a winger like he was against the Blues as least the inanimate object would have achance of staying onside. While at least that was somewhat cheeky and creative way to express one’s feeling towards Perez, others were more direct by simply stating they couldn’t stand him. Perez has had a large section of the Magpies’ fanbase on his back this season and it’s easy to see why. While the attacker can dazzle with his dribbling ability and wonderfully get himself into goalscoring opportunities, more often than not he fluffs his lines and produces an effort that doesn’t even work the goalkeeper. You do start to feel this season that if Rafa Benitez had funds, he’d sign a player to take Perez’s place as a guaranteed starter. Newcastle’s clash with Chelsea ended 2-1 in the Londoners favour on Saturday.

Good last 15 mins! I have defended Perez for ages now but he has been awful. No one to bring on for him like #nufc
