Newcastle United have scheduled a medical for Lazio left-back Jordan Lukaku tonight (Thursday), according to Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder.
Ryder, who is chief sports writer at the regional newspaper, reported on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon that the Magpies had pencilled in Lukaku’s medical already.
It is said that other formalities are also set to take place on Thursday, meaning Lukaku could be a Newcastle player by the weekend.

Good move for Newcastle United?
Absolutely.
Lukaku may have struggled slightly in the past few months at Lazio, with injury curtailing his progress, but there is no doubt that there is a player in there for Newcastle to rejuvenate.
The 24-year-old is quick and powerful, and could be a weapon for Rafa Benitex and the Magpies if he stays fit and manages to adapt to the Premier League.
A loan move is a no-brainer, with Newcastle desperately in need of reinforcements on the left side of defence.
