Paraguayan international Miguel Almiron should be physically fit and firing ahead of his prospective move to Newcastle United as he gets ready to undertake a medical on Wednesday (30/01), according to USA-based journalist Roberto Rojas.
The reporter claims on his personal Twitter account that the attacking midfielder has been training with selling club Atlanta United since the start of 2019, having seen the MLS season end at the start of December, and that he had four weeks of holiday where he also trained to remain in shape in what is an exciting update for Newcastle fans who hope to see him in action sooner rather than later.
BTW- Miguel Almiron is in good conditions, fitness-wise. Preseason was last week & he’s been training with Atlanta since the start of 2019. He’s been training & only had 4 weeks of holiday in Paraguay last month after the MLS Cup win, but he’s been training there as well. #NUFC

Sky Sports journalist Keith Downie has reported that a medical is scheduled for today (Wednesday) ahead of his £21million move from the USA to Tyneside.
Opinion
With Newcastle needing players who are going to make an immediate impact on their arrival this month knowing that Almiron is joining without any problems regarding his fitness is absolutely crucial to Rafael Benitez. A deal is yet to be sealed but it does not seem there will be any real problems and the next question is when can fans expect to see him in action? Will Benitez throw the Paraguayan straight in the deep end against Tottenham away from home, or will he wait until the visit to Wolves, or even perhaps the home tie against Huddersfield, before giving him the chance to impress? He obviously will not want to wait too long and the player himself will surely be keen to get out there and prove his worth but putting him in too soon could upset the balance of the side and damage his confidence moving forward. There is a balancing act to be done and that is where Benitez’s managerial nous comes into play. One to be deliberated among the Toon Army – but not until he is pictured holding the black and white stripes.
