COMMENTARY

Many West Ham fans tore attacker Andy Carroll apart after watching his first-half display against Bournemouth on Saturday. Several found creative ways to question the forward’s ability with one even claiming the player was now living his dream as a medieval weapon. However what was clear as one labelled Carroll a liability while another urged for his exit to be sealed is that the attacker isn’t exactly popular with a large section of Hammers fans right now. It’s easy to see why this is the case as not only was he isolated in the first 45 minutes of the game against Bournemouth and looked out of ideas, he also recklessly picked up a yellow for unfair use of his elbows. While referees do tend to be harsh on Carroll when it comes to him using his physicality, he did deserve a yellow card on this occasion and you have to think, Manuel Pellegrini will need to sub him soon to avoid him getting sent off. While lots of Hammers fumed with Carroll, it was 0-0 at the break against Bournemouth.
