Leeds United are reportedly chasing a January loan deal for Wolves winger Ivan Cavaleiro as they look to boost their attacking options in their push for promotion.

As reported by The Sun, manager Marcelo Bielsa is keen on signing the Portuguese powerhouse, with counterpart Nuno Espirito Santo said to be willing to consider a loan exit for the 25-year-old.

While this would no doubt be a brilliant move for Leeds to make, with their attack in need of reinforcements, the Whites should actually be targeting one of Cavaleiro’s teammates: Adama Traore.

Traore will be well-known to Leeds fans for his stint at Middlesbrough, with the Spain U-21 international making 71 appearances for Boro, scoring five goals and supplying 13 assists.

The 23-year-old’s form last season caught the eye in particular, and earned the speed demon a big-money move to Wolves in the summer.

His £18million switch has however not gone to plan yet, with Traore playing second-fiddle at Molineux this season, making just six starts in the league.

Him and Cavaleiro are in very similar situations at the moment, with the Portugal international having made just one less start in the Premier League.

A separate report from the Daily Mirror has previously suggested that Santo would be ready to let Traore leave on loan as well, and Leeds must therefore target such a deal.

Traore supplied an incredible 12 assists in the Championship last season, with his pace causing all kinds of problems for defences as he ripped the division up.

That kind of impact is exactly what the Whites need, with the jet-heeled Traore able to run defences ragged in the second half of the campaign.

Bringing in a player of his quality at this point in the season could be a season-defining move from Bielsa as he looks to finally secure promotion for Leeds after 15 years of hurt.
