Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has agreed a deal to join Paris Saint-Germain in principle, according to Yahoo Sport France.

The French news outlet claimed that the key Toffees player wants to join PSG and has agreed in principle to sign a four-and-a-half-year contract with them to do so.

Yahoo Sport France report that Gueye’s exit isn’t guaranteed as negotiations between the French giants and the Toffees are difficult due to the 40 million euros valuation of the player (£35.1million) and the fact Marco Silva’s side want to get a replacement before letting him go.

It is believed that Gueye will only leave for PSG this month if the Toffees get a replacement through the door.

OPINION

After looking like they had lost interest in Gueye, it seems PSG are pushing very hard to get the 29-year-old midfielder on their books after all. It seems the French giants face a few hurdles still in getting him as not only do they have to submit a bid the Toffees will accept, they have got to hope the Premier League side are successful in their hunt for a replacement. It won’t be easy to find a replacement for Gueye as he is an important member of Silva’s side. The 29-year-old has featured 21 times this season and when he has been missing, Silva’s side have looked worse for it. Yahoo Sports’ report claims that the Toffees are keen on an unnamed player in Ligue 1 and on Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure, so they at least have their targets sorted. As for Gueye it is understandable why he is keen on a move to PSG as the Euro giants can give him Champions League football this season and he has a better chance of winning silverware with them.
