Everton would be willing to listen to offers of around £20 million for Cenk Tosun, according to the Daily Mail.

The 27-year-old has struggled to make an impact under new manager Marco Silva, scoring just three times this season.

The 35 cap Turkish international was signed by the Portuguese’s predecessor Sam Allardyce last January for a fee of around £27 million, but it is now understood that the Toffees would be willing to take a sizeable hit on their investment as they look to decrease the size of their squad with only a league campaign to focus on between now and the end of the season.

OPINION

It always felt as if Tosun would struggle under Marco Silva. The Turk is a traditional centre forward, a hold up man who likes to facilitate others around him but who’s goalscorgin maybe suffers as a result. That might have been fine under Sam Allardyce, but it doesn’t suit Silva’s style as much and it’s no surprise that the club are willing to let him go just a year after bringing him in. In fairness, Tosun has tried, and you cannot fault his work ethic or commitment, but regularly he has looked as if he lacks the quality needed to succeed in the Premier League. His finishing has left a lot to be desired, but just as damaging has been his fundamental all-round play. £7 million is a large hit to take in just a year, but if it frees up space in the squad, it might be worth the loss.
