Everton are preparing to offload three Goodison Park flops this month, with Cenk Tosun, Morgan Schneiderlin and Oumar Niasse all lined up for exits, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that manager Marco Silva is ready to cut ties with all three players, with the club willing to accept a £20million bid for last January’s signing Tosun.

Schneiderlin, a £20million purchase from Manchester United back in 2017, is said to be attracting admiring glances from Italian giants Roma after slipping down the pecking order on Merseyside this season.

Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Cardiff City and Fulham have shown an interest in Everton’s two frontmen. Midfielder James McCarthy is also attracting loan interest.

Good move for Everton?

Getting rid of these players in order to free up funds probably is a good move, yes. In Niasse’s case this has been coming for a long time. He has failed to impress multiple managers at Everton and is clearly surplus to requirements.

The fact that he hasn’t made a breakthrough under Silva, who got the best out of him in a loan spell with Hull City a few years ago, shows that he’s not cut out for life at Goodison Park. Schneiderlin, on the other hand, is seemingly way behind Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye and Tom Davies in the central midfield pecking order.

He is a talented player but it just hasn’t happened for him at United or Everton, and a fresh start is probably best for him. In Tosun’s case you do feel like Silva could have given him more of a chance to come good this campaign, after all he looked very impressive after signing last season. Still, £20million for an out of favour player isn’t bad. All in all, these are positive moves for the club.

Likely to happen?

All three players are already said to be attracting interest from elsewhere so there’s no reason why they shouldn’t depart this month. As long as clubs can reach Everton’s valuation of them – and match their wage demands – then it’s safe to say this is the last we’ll be seeing of the trio on Merseyside.
