Everton need to boost their creative options in midfield in January in order to kick on and the perfect player to do that is Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney.

The Toffees have lacked a top-quality attacking spark in their midfield in their recent outings with some players under-performing and it’s clear a fresh face to address that issue would benefit them.

According to The Sun’s print edition (page 63, Saturday January 5th) West Ham are ready to make a move for Cairney but known they would have to pay £25million in order to get him.

While the newspaper goes on to suggest that Fulham would do all they can to resist selling the 27-year-old playmaker, if there is any chance he could cost £25million, the Toffees must make a move.

Cairney is a sublime passer of the ball and has excellent creative vision when it comes to spotting chances to carve out with this shown by the fact he was involved in 11 goals in 37 outings last season.

While some may argue that the midfielder hasn’t excelled in the Premier League this season, he has shown glimpses of his talent and his efforts haven’t been helped by injuries as well as under-performing teammates.

This means it’s easy to surmise that Marco Silva could get Cairney back to his best and able to help the Toffees look better creatively.

The 27-year-old midfielder may also be tempted to jump ship to the Toffees which could help make a move occur as he would no doubt rather play for a side not in the relegation fight.

Therefore the Toffees must play a blinder by signing Cairney in this window as given his reasonable price tag and the fact he be the creative spark their lacking, it’d be a very smart move for them to make.
