Paul Merson has admitted that he is not the biggest fan of Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko ahead of Spurs’ clash against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon.

Sissoko, 29, has shown some of the best form of his career in North London this season, but he is set to miss this weekend’s action through injury.

Ex-Arsenal player Merson believes that Spurs will miss him, as well as Harry Kane and Heung-min Son, but has still predicted Mauricio Pochettino’s men to win 2-1 against Fulham.

“Before the Harry Kane news, this game would have been a foregone conclusion. However, it’s a different story now. Fulham have every chance,” said Merson, on the Sky Sports website.

“Spurs have lost so many goals from their team with Kane and Heung-Min Son, plus Moussa Sissoko is also missing – I’m not his biggest fan but he’s been strong this season.

“Fulham could get something….but I’m leaning just towards Spurs.”

OPINION

Sissoko has had to wait along time to get himself playing his best football at Tottenham, but Merson still has to hit the ex-Newcastle midfielder with a backhanded compliment. Spurs should be fine this weekend without some of their key players and if the game finishes 2-1, then that scoreline might flatter Fulham slightly. The Cottagers have been awful all season and Tottenham don’t just rely on Kane to get goals. His absence could see Lucas Moura handed a bigger role in the attack, so that he can impress like he did at the start of the campaign. Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen can get among the goals as well while Fernando Llorente could offer a surprise or two. Obviously it would be better for Spurs if they did have Kane, but Fulham’s defence is nothing to worry about and they should earn a win at Craven Cottage quite easily.
