Paudie O’Connor is undergoing a medical ahead of a half-season loan move to Bradford City, after having his season-long loan at Blackpool deal ripped up, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The towering 6ft 3in centre-back has made an early return from a season-loan loan to Blackpool, where he only made 10 league appearances.

He started in the FA Cup game against Arsenal that Blackpool lost 3-0, but O’Connor returned to Elland Road after that game.

It is thought the new deal will offer the centre-back more regular football.

OPINION

Leeds fans are desperate to hear news of incoming players and so far all they’re being treated to is players leaving. O’Connor marks the third departure in just 24 hours, after it was confirmed that Conor Shaughnessy and Lewie Coyle were heading back out on loan on Monday. O’Connor had made 17 appearances across all competitions for Blackpool, but he only played 10 times in the league, and was often dropped from the squad entirely for the 15 league games he missed. Leeds have obviously decided that he’s better off going to a club that can offer him regular game-time and that means dropping down League One, from 11th where Blackpool are, to a relegation battle with Bradford. O’Connor played four times for the Leeds first-team at the end of last season under Paul Heckingbottom, but he seems to be falling further away from a return to playing under Marcelo Bielsa. Leeds fans will now be hoping the next news they get is a new signing to kick-start the second-half of the season.
