Alan Nixon has ruled out a return to Crystal Palace for Everton winger Yannik Bolasie.

The 29-year-old wide man cancelled his loan with Aston Villa on Monday, as reported by the BBC, to return to Goodison Park and attempt to force his way into Marco Silva’s first team plans.

When asked on Twitter whether or not the Congolese international’s return could, in fact, spark a bid from his former side Palace, the respected journalist was adamant in his answer, replying simply: “No”.

Bolasie joined the Toffees from Palace for £26 million in 2016.

OPINION

It might not be Palace who takes him off Everton’s hands, but it’s hard to see Bolasie having a future at Goodison Park now. He was deemed surplus to requirements at the beginning of the season, and if anything his profile has dropped since he went to Aston Villa. The Congolese international is a decent player when he’s on his game, but those purple patches are becoming fewer and fewer as he ages, and it’s difficult to envisage any way in which he’s going to force his way back into Marco Silva’s plans. From a Toffees’ perspective, the hardest ting to swallow will be that he cost them such an extortionate amount of money, and through a combination of horrendous luck with injuries and poor form, has given very little in return. If and when he is sold they will have to take a hit on his price, and he could end up going down as one of the Blues’ most disappointing signings ever.
