Gary Lineker has heaped praise on young Chelsea attacker Callum Hudson-Odoi, after watching him in the Carabao Cup semi-final.

The first leg played out at Wembley tonight, with Tottenham recording a narrow 1-0 victory to take to Stamford Bridge.

Harry Kane got the goal after a VAR-assisted penalty was given in the first-half.

But, Hudson-Odoi, whose future at Chelsea is in doubt with a big Bayern Munich bid reportedly in for him, looked brilliant for Chelsea.

And Lineker took to Twitter to say how impressed he was saying, “Can see why Bayern Munich are interested in Hudson-Odoi. Another young English player with bags of talent.”

OPINION

Hudson-Odoi might have bags of talent but that hasn’t helped him at Chelsea this season, where he’s struggled for any game-time in the league, making just one appearance for 42 minutes. He played 79 minutes tonight and showed why Chelsea fans were raving about him over the summer. And now Bayern Munich are prepared to spend £35million taking him away from the Premier League. It seems ludicrous that Chelsea would let him go and yet spend £58million bringing Christian Pulisic the other way from the Bundesliga. They play in the same position and Pulisic’s arrival could well mean Hudson-Odoi is surplus to requirements, another young English player that Chelsea under-utilise. He gave them a glimpse of what they’ll be missing tonight. Chelsea might have lost tonight but they’re sill bang in this semi-final, with the second leg to be played at Stamford Bridge in a fortnight’s time.
