Leeds are no longer considering a move for Bristol City winger Callum O’Dowda, according to the Times.

The report claims that Bristol City have “warded off interest from Leeds United” in the 23-year-old.

This comes after they triggered an option in O’Dowda’s contract that will keep him at Ashton Gate until 2020.

However, the report also claims that there are Premier League scouts still keeping tabs on the ROI international and that they will continue to do so at the FA Cup clash against Bolton tonight.

Leeds, meanwhile, now look purely focused on getting a deal for Swansea’s Daniel James over the line.

OPINION

It looks like we can strike a thick black line through the name of Callum O’Dowda. He’s a player that Leeds were going to look to if they couldn’t get Daniel James into Elland Road, and were obviously hoping to get him on a cut-price deal with his contract set to expire in the summer. Now, it looks like it might be James or no-one. Leeds are still in negotiations with their Championship rivals over a deal for James, which is now threatening to go all the way to deadline day next week. Marcelo Bielsa has consistently said that Leeds will manage if they don’t bring anyone in, and he has Izzy Brown and Patrick Bamford as two new attacking options, with both players back in training. However, it would be a shame if Leeds didn’t bring either James or O’Dowda in this January. They’re in need of hungry, young players who are capable of lifting their game in the Premier League. However, Leeds are said to still be confident they can reach agreement with Swansea. For now, it’s a waiting game.
