OPINION
It is probably harsh to judge Luke Ayling to severely for his performance in Leeds United’s 2-1 defeat to QPR on Sunday, but the right-back, who played at centre-back in the FA Cup loss, wasn’t at the best of his game. Ayling, 27, still doesn’t completely up to speed after returning from injury last month. The ex-Bristol City ace missed the second-half of last season and all of the action in November and the first of December, so he is probably still trying to fight his way back to fitness without suffering a recurrence of an old injury. Ayling will get back up to speed eventually and it does not help when he is played out of position against QPR. Some fans have not been very sympathetic though and blasted him for his display in west London, but that is a bit over the top. The senior Leeds player is still one of the best right-backs in theĀ Championship and supporters need to realise they are lucky to have him.
